She stripped her readers naked and in such allowed them to really feel. Feel the hopelessness, the loss, the guilt, the insecurity and the vulnerability of being exposed.

That much was obvious. But h ARC provided by publisher in exchange for an honest review An emotional touching tale of rediscovering strength, hope, love, second chances, and beauty.

So maybe it was time that someone taught her how to take what she wanted. Fears that can inhibit us from truly living life.

And for Violet Walker, her insecurity and fears were skin deep and beyond. After a fatal car crash that left her fiance dead and her alive, Violet struggles with guilt.

He died and she lived. She should be thankful that she is alive but the scars ridden on her body has made her fearful, insecure, and afraid.

The scars were just a reminder to her that she may have a beautiful face but her upper half of her body was damaged with scars. So when she meets her sexy next door neighbor, for the first time, Violet felt a spark.

A spark that could only be ignited by the presence of Noah Young. Noah was aware that Violet was attracted to him and that she was hiding something since she was always wearing clothes to cover her neck and upper body.

As Noah and Violet begin a sexual relationship, Violet makes it known to Noah that he can't touch her upper body and that this sexual fling is temporary nothing serious.

After a few weeks into their fling, they decided to part ways. But as it turns out, fate has a funny way of working out since Violet discovers that her Noah is the Noah Young hired to help construct her family's construction project.

As the newly appointed CEO of her family's business, how will Violet react to discovering that Noah is one of her employees?

And will Violet be able to strip down and show Noah how she truly feels about him? Can Noah finally see the real Violet? When it comes to love, can Violet finally be naked?

More urgent. But nakedness was overrated when the need for another human being was so great you were willing to do anything just to hear your name on their lips.

There are times where I felt it was a bit tad slow but I understood that author wanted to showcase that stripping yourself bare emotionally and physically takes time.

Each one of us has to come out of our shell. For some, it may come faster but for people like Violet Walker, she had to take her time.

In all honesty, I applaud Ms. Gordon for writing a character so emotionally flawed because it makes Violet relatable. I love how Ms.

Gordon showed Violet's character growth with the help of Harper. I think everyone needs a friend like Harper to help push you in rediscovering your inner beauty and acceptance.

I love that this book is about stripping you naked emotionally and helping you gain confidence. We all have a past.

A scar. Experience some type of loss. And are vulnerable at one moment in our life. But when you truly evaluate your life, no one is perfect. Perfection does not define you but our imperfection is beauty.

She filled the space, slowed his thoughts, giving him a sense of peace. Gina Gordon View 2 comments. My goal, when reading a romance, is to NOT have that moment where I call either the hero or heroine, or both, pendejos [Spanish for morons].

That moment happened sometime around 65 or so percent in and I'm sorry but Violet is an insecure heroine.

Her insecurity wears on a reader after a while. Now, I can deal with an insecure heroine, because as a reader it's the character arc that I crave to see.

However, in this inst My goal, when reading a romance, is to NOT have that moment where I call either the hero or heroine, or both, pendejos [Spanish for morons].

However, in this instance, too much of her growth is packed into the end, and not enough to keep the reader hoping that she will get past her issues.

Had she shown some growth, perhaps opened up a bit earlier and then gone into the lies portion of the program also not a fave , perhaps I would have cared for her more.

Noah is a nice beta type of hero with his own issues though, he didn't make a very strong impression on me either.

Mostly, his personality seemed muted, and he took a backseat to her issues and emotions. The truth of the matter is, I was way more intrigued with two supporting characters - yep, Luke and Harper.

Luke seems edgy, and Harper has a fantastic personality. I'd love to see what drove her to be the woman she is today and how Luke could expose her vulnerability without losing her spirit.

They made a great impression on me and I cannot wait to see their story unfold. That was part of the problem. I enjoyed a good portion of it, even if I had issues with pacing.

Jan 08, Samantha rated it really liked it. I wasn't blown away by the novel but I found it easy to read and liked both Violet and Noah.

The story is one of accepting yourself, accepting a traumatic experience and finding love. Without a doubt, Noah will remind you of why it's so great to fall in love with someone and Violet will remind you that you can't live without a bit of risk.

Noah was fantastic, kind and patient and just a really good guy. This was a super steamy and sexy book and I loved this couple together.

This book was very thought provoking, and it definitely struck a chord with me. There were lots of subliminal messages that really made me stop and think about society's perception of beauty and how it affects us all.

Violet never wanted to be defined by her beauty but that's what has happened her entire life. She is a woman trying to forge a path in a very male-dominated world construction , trying to prove she has achieved her position due to skill and intelligence, and not because of how she This book was very thought provoking, and it definitely struck a chord with me.

She is a woman trying to forge a path in a very male-dominated world construction , trying to prove she has achieved her position due to skill and intelligence, and not because of how she looks.

Everyone dismisses her as beautiful - the employees in the company, the Board members, even her own mother criticizes her choices, wanting her to pursue a career that will showcase her beauty.

The only person who appears to see her intelligence, strength, and determination is her father, and he is slowly disappearing in front of her eyes thanks to early-onset Alzheimers.

Violet is waging a terrible inner battle. Though she doesn't want to be defined by her beauty it's hard to deny it when it's how people see her.

So when that beauty is marred by tragic circumstances it's understandable that she falls apart. Unsure of who she is, and what she should do with her life, she flees to a small town to lick her wounds.

Violet doesn't want her flawed skin to change her outlook but it does because she has spent so long being defined by it. She could easily resort to cosmetic surgery but I admired her for not even contemplating it.

I really felt Violet's torment. She didn't want to care that her looks were altered, but she did, and she hated herself for that.

Noah literally falls into her life one day and there's an instant mutual attraction. He is a 'real man,' the kind she has never tangled with before.

At her insistence, they don't even share their last names, so their connection, at the start, is based purely on their looks and strong chemistry.

Oh, the irony. But, as they get to know one another, she sees the man he is and realizes that if there is any guy she could trust with her secrets it's him.

There were tons of sexy times, which is quite out of character for Violet, but she readily gave into her wild side, and it was a great distraction from the real problems.

They had great chemistry together, and I was definitely rooting for them. Noah was very sweet and patient with her, and he always knew exactly how to play it.

He never pushed her to reveal what she was hiding under the scarf, giving her whatever time and space she needed. He was hoping that she would eventually open up to him.

Loved him for it. Violet does gradually start sharing more of herself, but she still struggles to fully expose herself to him.

She wants to - which was progression - but she still can't go all the way. I thought this was expertly handled and extremely well written.

Her fear of being touched in certain places was raw and painful and the emotions dripped off the page. She would get so close to it, and then pull back, too afraid to go there, and it was so credible and realistic.

The characters and the complex emotions are what sold me on this story. I love a strong character- driven book with an underlying social message, which this was.

The plot was fairly predictable and nothing that happened was a surprise, so I can't say the story itself blew me away. As I said, it was Violet's personal journey and her interaction with Noah and the other characters that hooked me.

I can't wait to continue this series. The writing was very good and the pacing was great - it flowed smoothly and I had a hard time putting it down.

This book made me stop and think, and I always love that in a read. I felt very connected to the subject matter and I've been in a strong philosophical mood since I finished it.

How many of us can say we aren't bothered about how the world views us aesthetically? That we truly don't care about our flaws? That if we were permanently scarred we wouldn't react as Violet did?

Harper had found a way to overcome society's narrow classification of beauty, and she shone from the pages of this book. The author included this dedication at the end which I absolutely loved - a great way to summarize the main message: "To every person who has ever had a moment of self-doubt.

May you always find the confidence to be yourself. Well done on a great book, and thank you for the very entertaining and highly-emotive read, Ms.

Of course Noah agrees because he's not interested in anything long term. I loved Noah from the very beginning. He was up front with Violet about his attraction to her and the fact that he knew it was going to be casual.

Noah and Violet were burning up the pages and their creativeness with their sexual encounters never got old.

Harper was my favorite secondary character. Her body positive attitude was encouraging, as was her confidence. That is exactly the way every woman should feel, no matter their body type and I am really glad to see it portrayed in this book.

Harper is getting her own story next and I can guarantee I will read it. Naked has a nice flow, hot scenes, and a good storyline with likeable characters.

Recommended to fans of New Adult or Contemporary romance. Great new series in the making. Love the characters especially Harper I am so looking forward to her story Violet's life has been defined by her beauty and when she no longer has that, she seems to lose her self identity.

Coupled with tragedy and her family's expectations of her makes her even more of a recluse. Noah is right there watching and waiting, giving her what she needs from him, patiently for her to open up even though he can see how blatantly her demons hold her back.

But it is ama Great new series in the making. But it is amazing how if we allow someone to see our true selves, allow ourselves to accept the reality of who and what we are and allow ourselves to be accepted by others, life and love can be ours for the taking.

Being the weird one in my own life I can relate but I learnt that trying not to conform to society's standards of normal and self acceptance is the only way to be truly at peace, which is what Violet eventually learns about herself thanks to the people who love her.

Naked is a story about finding one's self-esteem, facing your fears, abandoning insecurities, ignoring the scars of the past and accepting the reality that is in front of you.

All the characters are endearing, especially Harper Jones. She's the opposite of Violet and the epitome of a modern woman. I read that the author has created Harper to remind her of the woman she wants to become, after all the anxieties she's been through.

With plans of just four weeks of fun, Noah and Violet find themselves pulling each other's clothes off whenever and wherever they can, with just one catch, Violet is hiding something underneath her clothes and the scarves she wears everywhere.

When Violet finally returns to life, and work, she doesn't expect to find Noah there and she definitely doesn't expect it when her heart starts making room for him.

I am on a roll with books surprising me lately and I am loving it. Naked, by Gina Gordon, absolutely surprised me when I realized it was so much more than just a romance.

Main characters, Violet and Noah, had some great dialogue and both funny and extremely hot interactions. Seriously, their chemistry was totally off the charts.

I loved the premise of this book, hot girl watching hot man through the window and finally meeting only to find she has some serious emotional damage.

The best part was how Gina Gordon wrote the emotional aspects of this book, because mixed in with the romance and sex were some truly thought provoking moments for the main characters.

I didn't expect the stuff going on with Violet and I definitely didn't expect Noah to be the person who helps introduce her to a world of acceptance.

This book definitely starts out as just two people needing to get it on with one another, but it grows to be so much more. I liked the mix of personal life with family and friends as well, because it made the book feel all the more real.

I absolutely enjoyed the hidden lesson of loving yourself mixed in with the story and how judgement and acceptance work for people. The characters all were different, their voices were distinct, and I enjoyed the two worlds of laborers versus wealth meeting in the middle.

Plus, I just genuinely really liked Violet and Noah together. They sound like a cute couple and they had some great sex.

There is a lot going on in the book, as the first in a series I suspect it is due to setting the stage, but there are a lot of people to meet in a short period of time.

What starts out fairly slow grows quickly and there are some characters I feel like I don't know or who have a past that are playing into the book, but aren't revealed yet.

Some of the book reads as though there are characters we should already know well, but don't, so hopefully that means they'll be featured in upcoming novels.

Hint Hint: Harper and Luke. There are is some fog around the relationship of Violet and Noah, because they just mostly have sex and somehow find a lot of emotions, but I'm willing to let that slide since I just liked them in general.

While it's definitely got some hot and heavy scenes, the overall story is of self acceptance and love. Feb 17, Shayay rated it liked it.

I thought it was brave of her to admit her insecurities. That's the reason why the story pulled me in. And the hot steamy scenes?

A fantastic read that is the beginning of what looks like a fantastic new series. That's how great all the characters are in this one. This story is filled with emotion and takes a hard look at how we view ourselves as well as each other.

ARC received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is equal parts funny and emotional. Violet was dealing with a lot and my heart went out to her.

I got a great kick out of her spying on her neighbor Noah though. Her inner monologues were a hoot. Oh Noah. He was dealing with his own issues and once he set his sights on Violet their chemistry was sizzling.

Unfortunately Violet and Noah's issues seemed to drag out a bit in the middle and I felt it stunted the story before taking ARC received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked the premise of this book, but I just didn't connect with the characters; mainly the female lead, Violet.

I still enjoyed the book, and it looks like this is going to be a series, so I think I'll check out the next books in the series because I did like the writing.

Violet was in a car accident that left her with some bad scars on her neck and across her chest, and because of it she wears scarfs and clothes that cover up her scarred area, and she has very low self-esteem because she I really liked the premise of this book, but I just didn't connect with the characters; mainly the female lead, Violet.

Violet was in a car accident that left her with some bad scars on her neck and across her chest, and because of it she wears scarfs and clothes that cover up her scarred area, and she has very low self-esteem because she thinks she is hideous.

Violet is use to everyone thinking she is so gorgeous, so she is afraid to show anyone her scars because she fears how people will think of her.

Violet is sort of in hiding, and is sneaking peeks at her hot neighbor fixing up a house across from her house. Noah is the hot neighbor, and he knows Violet is watching him, so he does something to make her show herself, and of course there is an instant connection.

Noah likes Violet, and Violet likes Noah, but Violet has issues and Noah has had a previous heartbreak, so they are both weary, but the decide to have no strings sex for the month that Violet is going to be in town before she heads back to the city for her job.

Violet wants to keep any personal stuff out of the "relationship" because she is rich, and since she isn't ready to show anyone her scars, she doesn't want Noah to know her last name, so he can't look her up and know about her money and the accident.

So, the problem I had with Violet is I felt she is too focused on looks, and I don't mean just hers, but some of the thoughts she had about Noah's sister, Charlotte, were very superficial.

Just because someone doesn't dress sexy doesn't mean they are invisible and forgettable, and Violet was so use to everyone thinking she is so beautiful, she doesn't know who she is without her beauty, so her thought process was getting on my nerves.

I loved that Violet is a great business woman, and I do like that she goes after what she wants, and I liked her family dynamic with her parents.

Noah was a good guy, and I liked his family and friends. Violet and Noah definitely steam up the sheets, or I suppose the streets, since Violet has a thing about public sex.

Violet and Noah do have some sweet moments, and I did like them together. I liked their banter with each other.

I did enjoy reading Violet's journey of growth. I think this will be a good series, and I'm interested in Charlotte's story, and Harper and Luke's story.

Another thing that bothered me Why in the heck didn't Violet tell Noah that she had no intention of buying the house for her company!?

If she would have said she wasn't going to do anything to the house, and she was going to find some way for all of them to be happy, I'm sure Noah wouldn't have had such a problem with it.

Violet just didn't think things through enough. Jan 14, Shannon rated it really liked it Shelves: arc , for-review , stand-up-for-yourself , boss , dirty-talker , , net-galley , alternating-pov , vulnerable-h , sweet.

Naked is a heartfelt, sometimes funny, sometimes sweet, journey of self-discovery for both Violet and Noah. Violet's identity has revolved around her beauty, but for her it's been a curse.

She's working in a man's world and wants nothing more than to be taken seriously, for her brains and her business sense. But after a terrible car accident she's withdrawn from her life and has basically been in hiding, no longer the confident business woman she once was.

Noah is floundering, trying to reconcile the life he wants with the life he thinks his father expected of him. While Violet suffers from physical scars, Noah has emotional scars he hasn't completely come to terms with.

When Noah and Violet's "relationship" began, it was just supposed to be fun, for a short time. But slowly things started to get more complicated as feelings, on both sides, begin to change.

But Violet sticks to the "rules" of the agreement, and when her sabbatical is up she leaves Noah and heads back to her real world.

But just when you think you've got your life all figured out, it has a way of turning it upside down and showing you what you really need.

Violet and Noah both have a lot of baggage they are dealing with, and it makes for some tense and frustrating moments. But they also have a great love and respect for each other, they just needed some time and distance to realize it.

Noah really grabbed me from the start, and I loved his character throughout. Violet was at times slightly irritating, I wanted her to open up to Noah sooner and trust him more.

But it was nice to see her character grow and come into her own as the book progressed. It's also great when there is an awesome cast of supporting characters, and there were quite a few in Naked.

Harper is an amazing character, so strong and confident, we need more like her. I'm not going to stop eating the things I love just because society tells me I'll get fat.

Amen sister, amen. All in all Naked is a really well written book, with likeable and engaging characters, and a great storyline that will make you stop and think.

Jan 06, Kristine rated it liked it Shelves: netgalley. There were some aspects of this story that I really liked but there were also some that I really disliked.

I was back and forth throughout the entire read and had a difficult time figuring out how I felt about it. I liked the fact that Violet was trying to overcome a traumatic event and the scars that it left both physically and emotionally.

However, I was not a fan of the way it was executed in the book. There were way to many contradictions and not enough growth for the majority of the story.

On minute she was saying that she hated how her employees couldn't see past her beauty and that she was more than a pretty face and the next she was insecure because she no longer thought of herself as beautiful.

Yes, she had stuff to deal with but instead of coming across as someone learning and moving on she came across really whiny and immature at times.

For someone who was the CEO of a major company this was not a good thing. Again, it fell a little short for me. I couldn't quite feel the chemistry between Violet and Noah as much as I wanted to.

The steamy scenes felt a little mechanical or robotic to me and not so sexy. I'm sorry but the subway bathroom scene It was actually quite repulsive.

Sex in a dirty, public subway bathroom no thank you! From there the sex seemed more about action instead of feeling or emotion. I did however really like Luke and Harper and found myself wanting to know their story.

Hopefully their story will come in a future instalment. Harper was by far my favourite character in this book and she was only a secondary character.

I didn't hate Violet and Noah's story but I didn't love it either. I think with a bit of tweaking it could have been so much more than it was.

In the end it was average but I do feel like there is potential with this series to get better. Feb 01, Faith89 rated it liked it Shelves: netgalley.

The chemistry between the two is instant. The story started off pretty good but it faded in and out during the middle. It slowed down a lot for me.

They both had insecurities that were pretty realistic. I have read other books by MS Gordon and enjoyed them a lot. I liked the other characters in the book and would love to read more about them.

Jan 06, Irene rated it liked it Shelves: romance , arc-by-publisher , loveswept. I liked Violet character, she had insecurities and fears that held her back from living life to the fullest.

Noah was a total sweetheart, he was supportive, sexy, loved his family and the perfect guy for Violet. I wasn't a fan of Violet keeping secrets, so when the truth came out I totally understood Noah's pain.

Violet Walker and Noah Young are struggling with problems and decisions that are going to affect the rest of their lives.

She is recovering from a devastating car accident that affected her physically and emotionally.

Little did she know that the incredibly hot and sexy Noah was going to become part of those dreams. So much for keeping things hot and light Noah loves working in construction and is struggling with decisions about his own hopes for his career and those he feels are expected of him.

Hooking up with the mysterious, beautiful Violet is a welcome distraction. Their encounters are beyond hot. What these two get up to and where will have you reading with the fan set to high.

His growing feelings for her battles against the defenses she has put between herself and the rest of the world.

I agree wholeheartedly with Noah, secrets cause so many problems and heartache. I wanted to shake both of them, gently of course, and sit them down for a good, long fireside chat.

I had to get past all that but once I did the emotional story really opened up for me. Violet was hurting and so alone in her agony.

It hurt to see, to feel , the pain she was in. My admiration for her grew; watching her slowly open up to her friends and family—even strangers—to emerge stronger than ever.

The final scenes had my heart aching and cheering at the same time as everything finally came together in an ending that felt so right.

The accident stripped her of everything she thought she was, and the person she thought she was meant to be. While she comes to terms with the person she actually is , she spends her days ogling the sexy neighbor.

I loved Noah almost immediately—flirty and incorrigible with that hot as hell dirty mouth, it was impossible for me not to love him.

I loved his devotion to his family and friends, and how patient he was with Violet. Whatever they lack in communication, in honesty, they make up for in physical chemistry tenfold.

This was one of those books that was uncomfortable for me to read in public because of all the squirmy, breathless feels it kept doling out. There was a sweetness to Violet and Noah that made their heartbreak that much more emotional.

I was rooting for them even as I wanted to knock some sense into them. One of my favorite things in this book was the enormous amount of charm Ms.

Gordon gave her side characters. They were all so fun and funny—adding a tremendous amount of depth to the story. However, my very favorite person in this whole book was Harper.

I adored her. I wish I was her or, at the very least, had a friend like her. She singlehandedly took this story to the next level for me.

In the end, it was the last quarter of the book that gripped me most intensely, and it was really a delight to watch Violet come into her own.

It was an emotional journey and—despite how frequently I was frustrated with her over the course of the book—I was so proud of Violet.

Despite a few bumps in the road, there was a lot to love about this book. Definitely worth checking out. Jun 02, Emerson Hawthorne rated it liked it.

As a city builder, Violet's dream has always been to move her company into residential building as well so that they can expand their market. She is temporarily in Stillbride to plan a housing development.

When she is not doing that or reflecting on the scars left by the accident, she is ogling her neighbor, Noah.

Noah is rebuilding his childhood home for his mother to move back into. He is aware of Violet's interest and precipitates that by faking an accident that forces a meeting between them.

He has been intrigued by his reclusive neighbor. And he is even more intrigued when the two embark on a temporary, no-history, no-last names affair until Violet has to return to her normal life and take over her father's company.

Of the two characters, I really liked Noah. I understood his insecurities with being a have-not and I admired all that he wanted to do for his mother and the bond between himself and his sisters.

His longtime friendship with his friend, Luke, and Luke's business partner, Harper, round out his existence.

He is a steady, dependable, and magnetic guy with a great sense of humor and a strong sense of patience. Violet was a little harder to understand.

She was handed many privileges and there is no doubt that she worked hard also to attain her position. But the accident undermined her character's strength for maybe too long in the book.

Even when she returns to work, despite the fact that she knows that her capability and skills as part of the company have nothing to do with her physical appearance, she still allows it to hamper her.

But in the end, it amounted to not much at all. With that said, I am really looking forward to Luke and Harper's story, if it happens.
